Professor Riaz Khan

Professor Riaz Khan qualified from Guys Hospital in London, and completed his orthopaedic training in Cambridge. He undertook a fellowship in Perth, Western Australia, before returning there as a consultant in 2005 where he has been practicing ever since.  He works in partnership with Professor Daniel Fick at The Joint Studio, and operates out of Hollywood Private Hospital and St John of God Geraldton Hospital.

Riaz holds a courtesy faculty appointment as Professor of Material Science and Engineering in the School of Material Science and Engineering at the University of North Texas, USA and is also Adjunct Professor in the School of Science at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia. He is a Surgeon Scientist who has published over 70 peer reviewed journal articles and has been awarded over AUD$1 million in research grant funding.  He has delivered over 50 invited presentations to learned societies and serves as a reviewer for The Bone and Joint Journal (BJJ) and the Journal of Arthroplasty.

The Joint Studio has its own dedicated prospective patient database and supports an AIMS accredited international fellow.

Professor Daniel Fick

Professor Daniel Fick

Professor Daniel Fick graduated with Honours from the University of Western Australia in 1997 and completed his training at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Western Australia. This was followed by an international fellowship at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital in the United Kingdom.

Today, as a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons he works as an Orthopaedic Consultant in partnership with Professor Riaz Khan at The Joint Studio, operating out of Hollywood Private Hospital and St John of God Geraldton Hospital.

Dan holds a courtesy faculty appointment as Professor of Material Science and Engineering in the School of Material Science and Engineering at the University of North Texas, USA and is also Adjunct Professor in the School of Science at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia. He is a Surgeon Scientist who has published more than 50 peer reviewed journal articles and has also served as a reviewer on The Bone and Joint Journal (BJJ) since 2007.

As a Surgeon Scientist, Dan has an extensive research history and contributes to the Joint Studio’s own continuous prospective arthroplasty research database.
