Professor Riaz Khan is a senior orthopaedic surgeon based in Perth, Western Australia. Trained in the United Kingdom and Australia, he has an established reputation as a personable, caring and highly capable surgeon. Riaz’s experience in joint replacement innovation, helps him identify the latest and most suitable treatment options for all of his patients. A leading researcher with a distinguished academic career, he has published over 80 scientific papers and delivered over 100 national and international presentations on partial and total joint replacement procedures.

Riaz qualified from Guy’s Hospital in London, completing his orthopaedic training in Cambridge and later taking a fellowship in Perth, Western Australia. He is an adjunct professor of medicine at Notre Dame University, Fremantle, and an adjunct professor of computer science and engineering at Curtin University. Riaz lectures throughout the world on his techniques and expertise in implant and equipment design and is a recognised senior opinion in complex and challenging cases. His orthopaedic practice is based at Hollywood Private Hospital in Nedlands, Western Australia.

In 2015, Riaz co-founded the Australian Institute of Robotic Orthopaedics (www.airo.net.au), an independent biotechnology and research organisation that aims to deliver a new standard of patient care, backed by proven science. The Institute’s objective is to unite advanced cutting technology, intelligent digital sensing and robotic assistance to restore an individual’s pre-disease or injury joint function.
